LARES SEEDS Career Initiative

The LARES Students, Exploring, Engaging, and Developing Skills (SEEDS) Career Initiative seeks to not only assist students in discovering their major and career interests but to also help students achieve their academic and professional objectives through career exploration programming.
Students in this program will:
- Strengthen the critical thinking and advocacy skills needed for major and career exploration.
- Explore campus resources, opportunities, and tools associated with major and career pathways.
- Engage with Latino professionals, UIC faculty, and peers to gain knowledge and exposure to potential majors and careers.
- Develop awareness of opportunities designed to enhance academic and professional experiences.
- Solidify their skills for self-reflection, interest identification, strength and value assessments, and networking as related to major and career decision-making.
Students who are interested in taking part in the LARES SEEDS Career Initiative must apply to the program. This initiative is open to first-year and sophomore students who are exploring potential majors. Ideal candidates must attend all meeting dates.

- Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
APPLICATION TIMELINE
- Sunday, September 8, 2024: Deadline for Fall 2024 application
- Monday, September 9: All applicants will be contacted regarding their application
- Wednesday, September 11: First day of LARES SEEDS Career Initiative
