Dr. Miryam Assaf- Keller Education Scholarship

Application window for the Fall 2024 semester is now open until April 26, 2024.

The Dr. Miryam Assaf-Keller Education Scholarship is intended to provide support to undergraduate students participating in the LARES program at UIC and pursuing their degrees within the College of Education or Liberal Arts and Sciences, specifically in Secondary Education majors.

Eligibility:

  • Must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior.
  • Must be enrolled in the College of Education or Liberal Arts and Sciences (Secondary Education majors).
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Must be fluent in both Spanish and English.
  • Must be enrolled in the LARES Program (https://lares.uic.edu/about/get-connected/current-uic-students/).
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing endorsements, credentials, or a minor in English as a Second Language, Special Education (LBS1), Early Childhood Education, or Disability and Human Development.

To be considered for this award, students will need to:

  • Complete the Dr. Miryam Assaf-Keller Education Scholarship online application.
    • Visit http://uic.academicworks.com.
    • Select “Sign In With Your Institution”.
    • Complete the general UIC SnAP application.
    • When finished, click on “Finish and Submit”.
    • Go to the “Opportunities” tab and search “Dr. Miryam Assaf-Keller Education Scholarship”; click “Apply”.
    • Complete required supplemental questions.
    • Click “Finish and Submit”.
  • Submit resume.
  • Satisfy the bilingual interview.
    • Eligible applicants will be invited to participate in a bilingual interview conducted in both English and Spanish. Proficiency in Spanish is a requirement for applying. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to showcase their language skills during this interview process.
