Today, LARES is the principal recruitment and academic assistance program for Latino students at UIC, the largest federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in Illinois. LARES has an established track record of developing the program’s innovative recruitment and retention strategies that have contributed to UIC’s leadership in Latino education. LARES is a vital component to the success of Latino students at UIC in that it provides enriching academic advising and support services at every stage of their academic careers. LARES has formed partnerships and works closely with public and private high schools, city and community colleges, and social service and community agencies to help facilitate college access.
With your generous support, we can enhance the services we provide for UIC Latino students, including scholarships, academic assistance, leadership opportunities, community support and ensure that they achieve their graduation and career objectives.
