The César E. Chávez/ Frida Kahlo Award recognizes student leaders who demonstrate a commitment to the Latino community.  Applicants should demonstrate the following: leadership in extra-curricular activities, contributions made in the service of the UIC campus or Latino community, academic excellence, and financial need.

Eligibility

  • Must be a UIC undergraduate with a recommended GPA of 2.8 minimum.
  • Must have earned a minimum of 12 credit hours at UIC at the time of application.
  • Must be a junior or senior at the time of application (60-130 credit hours).

To be considered for this award, students will need to:

  • Complete the LARES César E. Chávez/ Frida Kahlo Award online application.
    • Visit http://uic.academicworks.com.
    • Select “Sign In With Your Institution”.
    • Complete the general UIC SnAP application.
    • When finished, click on “Finish and Submit”.
    • Go to the “Opportunities” tab and search “LARES César E. Chávez/ Frida Kahlo Award”; click “Apply”.
    • Complete required supplemental questions.
    • Click “Finish and Submit”.
