MISSION

The LARES Project HOMBRES (Hermanos Organized through Mentorship and Building Resilience for Educational Success) is a Latino Male Initiative that aims to provide Latino students the skill set to question and challenge social norms, increase self-esteem and promote a sense of belonging through mentorship and build resiliency to achieve educational attainment.

COMMITMENT

For the 2025-2026 LARES Project HOMBRES (Hermanos Organized through Mentoring and Building Resilience through Mentorship) cohort, we are scheduled to meet in person. We expect to meet on a semi-monthly basis for the Fall and Spring semester on Wednesdays from 3:00pm-4:30pm. We expect participants to be able attend all sessions. We will accept up to a certain amount of excused absences with prior notice. Further details will be shared in our first info meeting on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025.

ELIGIBILITY
  • UIC incoming first-year student with a highschool 2.5 GPA.
  • Continuing UIC student with 2.75 GPA.

NOTE: The LARES Project HOMBRES meets Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
